Inspired by the concept of the French chaise longue from the Rococo period, the PK24 Lounge Chair with a Grace leather headrest is undoubtedly one of Danish designer, Poul Kjaerholm's most recognisable works.
Designed in 1965, the chair is a fine example of Kjaerholm's principle of constructing pieces with independent components. Consequently, the body and the frame of the PK24 chair are held in place only by gravity and the friction of these elements, and not by any physical connection, hence its other name, the 'Hammock Chair'.
The organically shaped wicker seat with leather headrest, rest seemingly suspended, above a satin-brushed stainless steel frame.
