  • 2020-04-03 The Difference Between Full Leather Sofa and Half Leather Sofa The leather sofas currently on the market are mainly leather sofas and main leather sofas (half leather sofas). The national light industry standard for upholstered sofas stipulates that all-leather sofas refer to the bottoms of sofa seats and all use natural animal leather-covered sofas; the main parts of leather sofas refer to sofa seats, backrests, backrests, and the inner side of handrails. On the armrests, sofas covered with natural animal leather are used. Due to the extremely high cost of the full-leather sofa and its practical useless significance, most sofas currently sold in the market are leather sofas unless it is specifically stipulated that the sofa needs to be fully covered. The two materials used in different areas, the price is naturally a lot of difference.

  • 2020-01-02 What`s the Difference Between Sofa and Couch? Seating Capacity One critical area that defines the difference between the two is seating capacity. Couches are typically smaller, designed to seat two to three people. Sofas are larger than couches and are designed to accommodate four or more persons. It is very likely that you`ve also seen a two seater sofa, which is appropriately referred to as a loveseat. Loveseats are a smaller version of a standard sofa, designed to accommodate two people instead of four. Functional Use You probably didn`t know this, but couches are actually intended to be lied upon rather than sat on. Conversely, the sofa is designed for seating purposes. This is one of the reasons why genuine couches are armless. The functional use leads us to our next point; location. Location Sofas are commonly seen in the living room, family room, and other areas of the home. They are made to seat a large group of people and for this reason, are usually seen in larger areas of the home. Couches, on the other hand, are more commonly seen in intimate areas of the home. This can include informal areas that host cordial entertainment events for family and friends. This facilitates a more casual environment where laying down is
  • 2019-12-19 Living Room Seating - Knoll Bench This bench was inspired by the Lounge Collection created by US designer Florence Knoll (1917-present) to have a spare, angular profile that reflects the objective perfectionism of modern design. As a pioneer of the Knoll Planning Unit, Florence Knoll modestly called these pieces the "fill-in pieces that no one else wants to do." We absolutely love this design for it's clean lines and comfort. A perfect addition for the hallway, or entrance way. Our Florence Knoll inspired bench reproduction is available in two sizes: a single and two-seat; and in two upholstery choices: top-grain, aniline-dyed Italian leather in 17 color choices or a selection of 19 boucle fabric colors. We use stainless steel 1"; square tubing for the legs and frame. The seat cushion is 3" thick and filled with High Resilient Multi-Density Foam. The cushion surfaces consist of individual aniline-dyed leather panels offered in 17 colors or 19 fabric colors. For sewing, we offer 2 different ways the panels may be hand-sewn together: 1) using a hand-rolled welting (piping) technique as found on the "signature" brand or 2) straight stitch seams. Buttons are optional. Our construction techniques provide a solid bench perfect for commercial and residential applications.
  • 2019-12-18 Carefully Buying Your Living Room Sofa Buying a new sofa is a lot like buying a new car. There are tons of different styles, options, brands, types, and features. Muddling through all of the unfamiliar jargon can be overwhelming, and we understand how you feel. That's why we've created this sofa buying guide to help you narrow down your options and understand exactly what you`re purchasing. Step 1: Measure Your Space When buying a sofa, the first thing to do is to measure your space. You want to make sure that your sofa doesn't take up the whole room or that the room doesn't swallow your sofa. Get out the measuring tape to get an idea of what kind of footprint your sofa will be taking up. Keep seat depth and sofa length in mind. You may like to lie down on your sofa, so make sure you have enough room! Overall length is good to consider, but what's really important is what's between the arms! Step2: Know Your Materials Frame Materials Most sofa frames are made out of wood, but some have metal frames. H
  • 2019-12-17 How long should we expect our couch to last? The general prognosis is about 10 to 15 years, says Sotheby's-trained home shopping expert Jennifer Litwin, author of Best Furniture Buying Tips Ever. But it depends on how you and your family are using those couches. [If it's your only couch and you're laying on it every night, it's going to wear faster," says Litwin, who currently has couches in her house going on 10 years -- because she says, [we take really good care of them." Here are some of Litwin's suggestions for making your couch last longer: (1) Keep it out of the sun, as the sun will fade fabric couches, and suck the moisture out of leather ones, which can lead to cracking. (2) Keep the fabric of an upholstered couch clean and vacuum under the cushions, on the backside, and on the underside, as stains or lost Craisins can add to the wear and tear of the fibers. (3) Clean the couch legs. If they are metal, wipe them down with sudsy warm water, but avoid those alcohol-based spray cleaners, which can break down the metal or coating. [If they're wooden legs, oil them to keep them in good condition," says Litwin, [so they will be less likely to chip or crack."

  • 2019-12-02 Ploum Sofa - Lovely and Comfortable Seating The Ploum seating is the fruit of much research into comfort. The result is a special combination of two materials: a stretchable covering and ultra-soft foam. This combination, along with the Ploum sofas' truly ample dimensions, provides extreme comfort and accommodates different ways of sitting, stretching out or even lying down. As per the designers' wishes, the large settee is asymmetrical in construction : the right-hand backrest is a little higher than the one on the left, whilst the right-hand seat is slightly deeper than the left-hand one and the zip on the rear of the backrest is off-center. • 2019-11-29 LC1 Sling Chair Characterized by its minimalist form, the iconic LC1 Sling Chair is reduced to its most essential elements to create a functional yet avant garde sculpture of polished stainless steel tubing and leather. The classic chair was designed in the late 1920s by celebrated architects Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, who reimagined the potential of industrial materials to create forward thinking objects for the modern home. Though strict in its minimalist form, the chair provides maximum comfort from sophisticated details such as the moveable backrest and steel springs behind the seat and backrest. The trio of designers labored over numerous prototypes, uncompromising in their commitment to revolutionize design. Produced exclusively by Cassina, the classic chair has been updated with precious hides from South America which have a very characteristic brindled pattern making each piece completely unique. The Pampas version of the LC1 Sling Chair is now available in a limited edition of 400 numbered pieces. A turning point in the history of modern design, the LC1 Sling Chair an important object that has been internationally celebrated for almost 90 years.
  • 2019-11-28 LC7 Swivel Chair The LC7 Swivel Chair (1928) evolved from one of a number of experiments, including an attempt to fashion a chair by wrapping inner tubes from tires around a steel frame. As the Le Corbusier group refined such trials, a sensuous solution took form. A round, thickly padded seat rests on top of a curving claw-like base of tubular steel that resolves in a swivel mechanism, giving the seat pad a buoyant look. A curved, amply padded barrel, doubling as backrest and chair arms, links three tubular steel supports that fuse at the seat base. The LC Series was originally designed for indoor use, but after a visit to Villa Savoye, where some of the pieces were being used on the outdoor terrace, Cassina was inspired to create outdoor-safe models. The manufacturer spent three years working closely with the LC Foundation to develop a product that was within the foundations parameters: To be the same or better quality than indoor. Cassina opted for better, using hand-polished AISI 304 stainless-steel with silver welding, as opposed to chrome, to construct the frames a material with extreme resistance to corrosion that is actually more authentic to the product; chrome was not used until the 1970s/80s. The silver welding will patina over time and develop a halo. Sunbrella fabric covers the UV-resistant (and waterproof) seat and backrest cushions, which are wrapped in Ecofill a hypoallergenic fiber that dries quickly. Each piece is signed and numbered and, as a product of Cassina`s Masters Collection, is manufactured by Cassina under exclusive worldwide license from the Le Corbusier Foundation. Made in Italy. A protective, water-repellant cover is included.

  • 2019-11-18 The Story About Florence Knoll (Designer) Architect, furniture designer, interior designer, entrepreneur - Florence Knoll had a subtle but profound influence on the course of mid-century American modernism. Dedicated to functionality and organization, and never flamboyant, Knoll shaped the ethos of the post-war business world with her polished, efficient design and skillfully realized office plans. Knoll had perhaps the most thorough design education of any of her peers. Florence Schust was orphaned at age 12, and her guardian sent her to Kingswood, a girl`s boarding school that is part of the Cranbrook Educational Community in suburban Detroit. Her interest in design brought her to the attention of Eliel Saarinen, the Finnish architect and head of the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Saarinen and his wife took the talented child under their wing, and she became close to their son, the future architect Eero Saarinen. While a student at the Academy, Florence befriended artist-designer Harry Bertoia and Charles and Ray Eames. Later, she studied under three of the Bauhaus masters who emigrated to the United States. She worked as an apprentice in the Boston architectural offices of Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer; Ludwig Mies van der Rohe taught her at the Illinois Institute of Technology. In 1941, she met Hans Knoll, whose eponymous furniture company was just getting off the ground. They married in 1946, and her desig

  • 2019-11-05 Pelican Chair - Well Known Designer Armchair In no other design of his is Finn Juhl`s fascination for surrealism more apparent than in the Pelican Chair. When it was presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers` Guild Exhibition in 1940, it stood out with its unusual shape and sturdy legs. Finn Juhl normally named his furniture numbers after the year in which they were designed, but over time the nickname "Pelican" stuck to the chair. Very few were manufactured and the chair was almost forgotten until we rediscovered and relaunched the chair in 2001.
